Why Secure Storage Matters

Published January 27, 2026

For survivors of an unwanted sexual encounter deciding to document what happened is an act of courage. Whether it's writing out in their own words, uploading photos or saving details they might not be ready to share - Survivors deserve a place and a space that is private, protected and fully in their control. That's why secure storage isn't just a technical feature of Hazel, it's a core part of survivor centered care.

Trauma can affect memory. Many survivors remember details out of sequence or recall new information over time. Hazel, allows survivors to write out events in the order they remember them, add details later without judgment or time limits, upload photos or documents as they become available or as they want them off their devices. No pressure, no deadlines, no sharing without consent.

When survivors upload images or write out what happened, Hazel is designed so that:

  1. Only you can access your information.
  2. Your files are not visible to the public or searchable online.
  3. Nothing is shared without your permission.

Hazel, One platform all the help.

Please know, if you do not prefer to use the term survivor, we hear you. You have the choice to identify with whatever title feels right for you. You are in control, and we are here to support your decisions.
