How DaneMAC and Hazel Improve Access to Trauma-Informed Care

At Hazel, DaneMAC is one of our primary partners in delivering trauma-informed, survivor-centered support after an unwanted sexual encounter. Through Hazel, survivors can connect with DaneMAC for free medical services, including forensic nurse exams, emergency contraception, and STI/STD testing, while also accessing legal, mental health, and community-based support in one secure, easy-to-use place. Together, Hazel and DaneMAC reduce barriers to care, simplify scheduling, protect privacy, and help survivors share their experience once instead of repeating it across multiple appointments, creating a more compassionate path to healing.

AboutHazel

The founders of Hazel worked for years in the medical and legal fields. In their work with survivors of rape, sexual assault, and sexual violence, they saw firsthand the traumatic experiences victims suffered, not only from their assailants but also from struggling with the complicated and disjointed systems after. Survivors reported that retelling and reliving their experiences was nearly as traumatizing as the assault itself. The founders came together to design a system that was simple, unified, and most of all, kind.

Hazel prioritizes ease of use. Rather than survivors searching for services, we gather the available services here. Hazel prioritizes comfort and care. Through sharing Hazel account records, survivors can communicate everything about their encounter with a single click.
